If you're like most of us, visiting a church for the first time can be intimidating, especially when you don't know what to expect. We want you to feel comfortable when you come so you are free to enjoy the music, the message, and all the great people that call The Legacy their church home. Here are some of the most common questions people have when they visit The Legacy.
What's the music like?
The music at the Legacy says a lot about who we are. We believe that God can speak powerfully to our hearts through music and worship. Our worship music is upbeat ant contemporary and our band, young and energetic. We sing songs about hope and truth, love and forgiveness, mercy and grace, and, as in everything we do, we try and strike a balance between the old and the new. We find from time to time that the songs our grandparents sang still have much to say to us today. We have found that incorporating some of those classic songs into our contemporary service has added a unique depth and sense of heritage to worship.
What are the Messages about?
We believe that the bible has a lot to say about every aspect of our lives. Pastors at The Legacy speak about the important topics that are relevant to everyday people like you and me. Like our name suggests the messages are about more than just what we can receive for ourselves but about The Legacy of faith that we can give to our children, family, and friends.
How should I dress?
Jesus always seemed more concerned with people's lives than he was about what they were wearing. At The Legacy we don't make a big deal about how people dress. On Sundays most people dress casual or informal, so wear something comfortable and you'll feel right at home.
Our Story
The Legacy Christian Church (formerly the Fresno Christian Growth Center) was officially incorporated in May 1981, after a Bible study led by Peter and SueJae Bertolero began bursting at the seams. What started in 1978 as a few people gathering to study the Bible, became 50 people stuffed into a small townhouse apartment. This is what led to the birth of the Fresno Christian Growth Center, pastored by Dr. F. Peter Bertolero.
Everyone believes something. Our beliefs are what make us who we are.
